Mr. Perez has a wealth of experience as a former federal prosecutor and former IRS attorney. His main office is at 3020 Old Ranch Parkway, Ste 300, Seal Beach, CA 90740, but he can represent clients with tax problems anywhere. He also defends people who are accused of tax crimes or who are under Grand Jury or IRS or FTB tax investigation. Though he can represent federal-related clients anywhere in the country, he practices primarily in the Central District of California, which includes Los Angeles, Santa Ana, and Riverside federal courts.
Mr. Perez was appointed an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) in the criminal division in the Central District of California in 1977. When he went into private practice in 1981, he began his practice defending individuals accused of federal crimes and representing individuals and businesses under IRS criminal tax investigations. He has become a skilled negotiator and trial lawyer who consistently gets good results for his clients.
Mr. Perez joined the IRS Office of Regional Counsel in Los Angeles in 1972. By the time he left IRS Counsel in 1977, he had acquired training and experience in all areas of IRS representation and tax disputes, including revenue agent examinations, revenue officer collections, and tax court litigation. He is also admitted to practice before the US Tax Court. His trial experience permits him to be an effective negotiator, an asset that conserves the client’s time and money.
Mr. Perez has vast experience as a lawyer who handles civil and criminal tax controversies, IRS representation, and select estate planning and probate matters. His referrals come primarily from other attorneys and accountants. He has earned the respect of his peers and judges in the legal profession. He is listed in Martindale-Hubbell’s Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers and has received an AV-rating, the highest, from his peers since the year 2000.
